Jadi dimanapun kita berkarya, apapun posisi kita, bagaimanapun kondisi kita, sesungguhnya kita sedang membangun rapor kredibilitas kita.

“Your quality will be known among your enemies, before ever you meet them, my friend..” ~ Kingdom of Heaven and earth

“You reap what you sow”

“I have long feared that my sins would return to visit me, and the cost is more than I can bear.”, Benjamin Martin, The Patriot.

Aamiin..

Mbah Surip died of illness, Leaves Success as Legacy

Mbah Surip, a very popular singer and entertainment, died at 10.30am today. His first single, “Tak Gendong”, was highly successful and earned him 4.5 billion rupiahs from Ring Back Tone (RBT) royalties alone.

A few months ago, he was virtually unknown in Indonesia. His life dramatically changed when his song, “Tak Gendong”, was released and immediately became a major success. He already has schedules to perform on many upcoming events.

The news of Mbah Surip’s death is shocking, yet what I admire from him is that he’s done something that everybody would be proud of before he left. Many people live and die without leaving anything behind, only difficult life for the family. Very few, like Mbah Surip, managed to do a brilliant feat… that is, I think, ensuring the well being of his family, even if someday he dies. We can be pretty sure it was not his plan to pass away early, but I truly adore what he accomplished for his family.

Farewell, Mbah Surip. Hoping you rest in peace. Tuesday, August 4, 2009.

Source: DetikNews

Edit: There are different reports on Mbah Surip’s actual age. Some sources say Mbah Surip was 60 years old (born either May 6, 1949 or May 5, 1949), but according to his (multiple?) ID card(s?) (KTP) he was born either May 5, 1963 (46 years old) or May 6, 1969 (40 years old). I’ll leave it for you to decide.

7 Ways to Make Your Girlfriend "Work" for You

Together we're stronger!

Many people think that having a partner or spouse has no direct impact on someone’s business. I am thinking exactly the opposite. Your partner can help or harm your business.

I wish your love relationship is going very well, and here I’ll outline several ways to make sure that works for your business too. Note that there is no way I’m advocating pursuing a relationship just for business! 😉

  1. Share “office” hours with them
Let him/her accompany you while you’re working. Start by letting them know that you’re at work and may not able to do your usual “love chores”, and that you may be needing their help at times. A good partner loves you so much they’ll feel great for helping you get your job done. Try to “outsource” a few tasks to them, even simple things. The benefits are several folds: They feel happier, you get free/voluntary help, both of you can sharpen team working skills, and your love deepens. 🙂 Little issues may crop up, but I believe you’re gentle enough to work them out brilliantly!
  2. Consider Working Together(tm)
A friend of mine running successful bakery shop in my hometown with his wife is one example I truly envy. They actually work together, raising their business, and boy do they have truly envied me in their romantic life as well. While appearances may deceive, in any case I believe that a happy-looking couple is always better than a sad-looking couple.
When your business soars, imagine how great it would be with her!
  3. Attend business events with them
Not only it makes her feel much more respected and integrated with your life, it also shows to your business contacts that you show good leadership not only in business, but also in family. Women are known to be extremely curious creatures, and it’s good to satisfy their curious desires periodically.
  4. Invite her for a ‘Guest Post’
If you’re writing a blog, journal, or a column of some sort; let her in. If she hesitates, tell her that you’re stuck and need her to strike an inspiration. She may contribute a whole article, a paragraph or even just a sentence, it doesn’t matter–as long as she does. Avoid editing her work unless you know it’d be harmful for readers, point very carefully at her mistakes. It’s better if there’s a medium for feedback, show and encourage her. Even if she sucks in writing (and even if that’s the truth), don’t mention that fact! Just say that you already loved her and her willingness to help you… make you love her even more.
  5. Dedicate time for “Let’s get romantic!”

Just because you can work not in the office, doesn’t mean you’re
allowed to work online while you’re dating! Put your smartphone and
laptop aside while you’re with him/her, and subtly let them know you’re
doing it to respect your precious relationship.

  6. Be prepared for “Houston, we’ve got a problem!”
You’ve already taken for granted that small conflicts arise in relationship. Even more if you try to make your partner involved in professional matters. But don’t sweat them! When you succeed, these little things will actually help you make better decisions without getting distracted emotionally. Yes, that applies to both of you.
  7. Explicitly show your appreciation for their help!
You say “Thank you” to your business partner. You take your co-workers to a party after you got a salary raise. Your partner deserves even better treatment, if only for trying to help you. If your work is successful, he/she should get an explicit reward. No need to be expensive, just put a bit of thought and show your romantic side… and he/she will not love you but also love working with you.

I hope this gives you some ideas to improve your business and your romantic relationship at the same time.

What do you think? Do you agree that your romantic partner should help you in business? Or do you think that “business is business” and involving romance is risky? Do you have more ideas? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!

Make Your Business Thrive with Twitter

Twitter away!
Photo Courtesy of Chase Hoffman Photography

Is your business already using Twitter? If not, today might be the perfect time to do so. Especially since they have a Twitter 101 for Business guide for you.

Wondering why you’d want to use Twitter? Here’s what they say:

Twitter is a communications platform that helps businesses and their customers do a number of useful things. As a business, you can use it to quickly share information with people interested in your company, gather real-time market intelligence and feedback, and build relationships with customers, partners and other people who care about your company. As an individual user, you can use Twitter to tell a company (or anyone else) that you’ve had a great–or disappointing–experience with their business, offer product ideas, and learn about great offers.

You know that it’s good to be close to customers, right?

Bill Gates' rules for Kids!

Read this….. very cool!

Dear Colleagues & Friends

Here are a few rules of wisdom and this from the richest man in the world. They must be true!!!!

All the best

This should be posted in all schools and work places

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this! Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair – get used to it!

Rule 2 : The world won’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them. Parents stop babying your kids and giving them everything they want.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time..

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one.

If you agree, pass it on.
If you can read this – Thank a teacher!
Most of all Thank A Veteran for keeping our country free so this can be passed on to someone else.

Mario Teguh Golden Ways Notes #1

Hanya org2 yg direncanakan naik yg mendapat gangguan turun
Contoh: kmu naik pangkat jd manager, jd smakin tajir, tpi jadi hoby clubbing

Bukan kebahagiaan yg membuat qta bersyukur, tpi bersyukurlah yg membuat qta bahagia

………………………….. Phew!!

Selalu kaya ditampar ampe merah2 tiap dapet sinopsis Mario Teguh Golden Ways…

Special thanks buat Ratna yang udah setia ngingetin gw nonton ‘marteg’ (Mario Teguh) dan ngebikinin sinopsisnya karena gw selalu gak sempet nonton hix hix… 😉

Top 9 Habits of Highly Successful Entrepreneurs

Princess Kirsi

Parama W. Danoesubroto, a friend of mine, recently shared a bit of his vast business-savviness. It’s great enough that I’d like to share it here, both with my future self and with you the cool person (yes! YOU) who read this blog. Extra-gladly he’s willing to license his ideas as Creative Commons (oh so geeky!).

So, from this point below it’ll be his words, not mine:

Here’s what I’ve learned if I wanted to keep on continuing to be an entrepreneur.

These are just my values that I keep for myself. This might not apply or be true to other people.

  1. Stay Positive. And keep positive people around you, stay away from people who is negative. Choose your surroundings wisely.
  2. Embrace Failure. Failure is the best lesson in life.
  3. Always Listen to what other people have to say. But of course you have to carefully judge if it applies to your situation or not.
  4. Live BELOW Your Means. If you make $10 dollars and you can live on $1: do that. Because you never know what the next quarter or the next month will bring. Have enough buffer so that even if your business goes up and down, your lifestyle is the same.
  5. Tell Other People About Your Goal and Aspiration. This is important, because once you tell people about what you want to be… and not ashamed about it. Its like promising to them that you’ll reach that goal–and that makes you motivated because you don’t want to break that promise. But you have to be careful here, because you have to have such an idealist mindset that you need to embrace temporary setbacks and failures.
  6. Success is NOT a Result. Although society perceive it that way.All we have to do is try our hardest, and keep on trying and trying, and when the time comes, God will give us the result.
  7. Have a Goal That’s High Enough That You’ll Never Reach Them. Because I see that if you have a low goal, the day that you reach them is the day of your decline. For example if your goal is to have a Ferrari, then when you have it… you wouldn’t have the same drive and motivation as when you didn’t have it.So we need to set ourself up so that we stay Zuhd. To have wealth but doesn’t feel that we have it, to have intellect but don’t feel that we have it, etc. To drive a Ferrari one day, and to drive a Metro Mini another day… our heart stays the same. No pride, no arrogance, no shame, no low self esteem.
  8. Delayed Gratification (editor’s note: Mr. Jaya Setiabudi also said this, a tip I remember very dearly). You don’t have to have the things you want now. You don’t have to upgrade your lifestyle as soon as you have money. Delayed gratification is actually a fuel to fuel our stamina. The more you wait for something, the more intense you feel about wanting it. You can then channel it to drive you forward.
  9. Be EGO LESS. You are never the most intellegent, the most wealthy, the most handsome person in the world. There is always someone better than you. Without ego, you can grow to be a better human being faster. Without ego, you can think objectively about many things in life or business, or etc. Without ego, you take criticism well and be able to improve yourself. People would then like you more because they have less pressure when they’re around you. And without ego, you enjoy life more because you got no pressure on yourself.(alias anti gengsi)I’d like to say that Social Status is a trapSocial Status is Prison

You don’t want to be in a situation where you are expected by society to dress a certain way, drive a certain car, when in your heart you don’t want to.

There is someone I know, that bought a luxury car
    .

And then he starts feeling that his clothes are not up to par with his car. So he bought nicer clothes. And he bought nicer things.

When his business went down, he can’t downgrade; cause……who want to drive a luxury car and work at a McDonald’s right?

So he was feeling a high amount of pressure.

So NEVER be in that positionJangan kaya OKB (orang kaya baru)
